One of the top venues on Lake Como
If you have been researching venues on Lake Como, chances are you ran into Villa Pizzo somewhere! That is not by chance, as Villa Pizzo is a veteran in the wedding space, hosting A-list celebrities like Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.
As a photographer who has had the pleasure of working in this 300-year-old location, here are some things to expect. In this blog we will talk about:
- Why it's a great venue for stunning photos
- The transportation aspect
- The communication with the managers
- Expected costs
Is it Photogenic?
Surly Villa Pizzo wouldn't get its notoriety if it didn't make the perfect background for all kinds of luxury weddings! If the question is whether this venue is the best setting for your wedding, here are a few things to consider.
This venue is also in the perfect spot for beautiful golden hour and sunset lighting. The sun will make the lake glow with beautiful warm light in the evening, and during the day it will stay behind the Grand Dock.
Villa Pizzo is comparable to a museum, with original XVIII-century furniture; for this reason, the villa's interiors will be pretty much off-limits if not for photos. However, the venue has a gorgeous orange building (pictured above) that serves as the actual getting-ready space!
Each time I visit Villa Pizzo, I discover new picture-worthy spots. Starting from the old concierge building to the fragrant Orangerie, every corner inspires to capture the most romantic images.
How to Get to Villa Pizzo?
Villa Pizzo is probably one of the easiest-to-reach wedding venues in Lake Como. If you want to visit, let's say, from Milan, all you have to do is take the train to Como Lake, and a few feet away from the station, you will find the ferry dock that will take you to Cernobbio. From there, the Villa is a short walk away! If you prefer, you can always rent a car or Vespa at Como Rental Solutions, also a short walk from the train station.
For your wedding day, your guests will have many close lodging options, and it will be pretty easy to arrange private transportation from the main hubs of Como or Cernobbio.
Communication
Let's get this out of the way: vendors in Italy can sometimes be hard to reach. I was a bride once, too, and I understand the struggle. Adding to that the language barrier, it can be hard even to know where to start planning a destination wedding in Lake Como!
That is NOT THE CASE with Villa Pizzo. The venue manager is, first of all, super quick at responding to emails and calls. Secondly, they are very fluent in English, so miscommunication isn't an issue.
If you are still worried about communication, my best tip is to look for a planner who understands your wishes and your language. And to add to the magic of a fantastic wedding team, a photographer like me who has lots of experience both in the North American wedding industry and in Italy, whose first language is Italian but can write this post fully in English!
What's the cost?
This will vary greatly based on the type of ceremony and reception you are trying to host in Villa Pizzo. For an elopement with just the two of you, you should expect between 5-10k. If you are planning for a big guest count, the price can be up to 2k per head.
